Singer-songwriter Jackson Browne has announced a benefit concert on Thursday, August 10 at the Redford Theatre in Detroit’s Old Redford neighborhood to support the historic venue. Browne will be accompanied by his long-time bandmate and multi-instrumentalist Greg Leisz.

All net proceeds from the performance will support the Redford Theatre, the Old Redford Development Group, and Echopark Guitars for their efforts in forming the Old Redford Community Arts Foundation.

“For a while now, I’ve been hearing that Detroit is coming back,” says Browne. “Detroit has given us so much — some of my favorite cars, and a lot of my favorite music — Motown, Glenn Frey — when my friend Gabriel Currie told me he was moving his guitar factory to Detroit, I was intrigued, here’s a guy from the same neighborhood in L.A. that I’m from, and he’s moving to Detroit.

“Now Detroit will be home to Echopark Guitars, another artistic and technical innovator. Gabriel also told me about the renovation of the Redford Theatre. At the heart of this project is a strong belief in community, and the power of art to motivate and inspire.”

The Old Redford Community Arts Foundation plans to create arts education programs for the community by utilizing the Redford Theatre and the Masonic Temple across the street to create a thriving arts and entertainment district. The Redford Theatre is located at 17360 Lahser Rd.

Browne’s show begins at 7:30 p.m. and reserved seats are priced at $25, $45, and $75, and sales will begin tomorrow, June 23 at 10 a.m. Ticketing information can be found here.
