Gobsmacked! to Bring A Capella, Beatboxing Show to Detroit’s Fisher Theatre

2000

Nic Doodson, producer and creator of Gobsmacked!, a next-generation a cappella musical show, today announced the musical’s first U.S. tour with 120 performances throughout North America. The tour will begin at Detroit’s Fisher Theatre Nov. 3-5 before heading to Dallas, Washington, D.C., and Chicago.

Casting, ticketing information, and additional cities will be announced at a later date.

Following sell-out seasons in London, Hong Kong, an Edinburgh, the vocal show features reigning world-champion beatboxer Ball-Zee and a cast of international, world-class vocalists. Gobsmacked! weaves stories of all forms of an a cappella from traditional street corner harmonies to cutting-edge, multi-track live looping.

Movies like the “Pitch Perfect” franchise, television shows like Glee, and popular groups like Pentatonix, Straight No Chaser, and Naturally 7 have increased a cappella’s popularity from street corners to stadiums. Gobsmacked! showcases modern a cappella and tells a tale of urban love, loss, and redemption.

Doodson, director Alexandra Spencer-Jones, and musical director and co-creator Jack Blume have worked with artists including Daft Punk, Britney Spears, Jose Carreras, Buena Vista Social Club, and Soweto Gospel Choir. The trio has produced and directed shows at the O2 Arena in London and the Sydney Opera House.
