Brian Balconi, president of Retail Food Group USA in Santa Fe Springs, today announced Gloria Jean’s Coffees will open in May in Auburn Hills. There are three existing locations in Michigan – Rochester Hills, Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills, and Portage. More locations in Michigan are planned.

Gloria Jean’s Coffees was founded in 1979 by the company’s namesake, Gloria Jean Kvetko. What began as a small gift shop soon became a nationwide and later international franchise concept, the company now has nearly 900 stores worldwide.

“The concept behind Gloria Jean’s Coffees is coffee that has a variety of flavors – to have flavored coffee and gourmet coffee,” says Balconi. If you think back to 1979, the world of coffee was very different.”

The coffeehouse menu includes warm drinks such as blueberry sunrise, caramel nut, and coconut cream flavored coffee. Also featured are ice-blended drinks called Chillers. Customer favorites include cookies and cream, mint chocolate bomb, white chocolate caramel cookie crunch, and for the spring/summer season, white chocolate coconut crunch. Baked goods and pastries, whole beans, and retail merchandise are also available.

“The coffee experience has expanded recently and the industry continues to expand, especially with specialty coffee,” says Balconi.
