Faurecia, an automotive equipment supplier which has its North American headquarters in Auburn Hills, today announced an investment in Holland-based touch technologies company, Alsentis. The investment will support technology in Smart Surfaces — touch panels for appliance, consumer, automotive, and industrial applications.

“Combined with our recent investments in Canatu and Tactotek, we have now completed a unique ecosystem enabling us to master the full smart surfaces value chain,” says David Weill, vice president of marketing and business development for Faurecia. “By integrating different technologies, we are now capable of creating a new HMI (human machine interface) experience in vehicle interiors.”

Alsentis solutions are in production for the automotive industry and specialize in capacitive sensor technology and HMI, which incorporates new materials and complex geometries.

“We are very excited to be partnering with Faurecia as we explore this next phase of smart and connected cars,” says Justin Teitt, CEO of Alsentis. “We will work together to unlock the potential for HMI in automobiles.”

The investment was made to reinforce early stage innovations and strategic advantage for Faurecia covering Smart Life on Board and Sustainable Mobility. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
