John Latella, former CEO of Ferndale-based Garden Fresh Salsa, has been hired as president of Detroit-based McClure’s Pickles.

Latella, a leadership executive with a law and finance background, helped to grow Garden Fresh Salsa into a national brand that reached $110 million in annual revenue in 2015. It was acquired by Campbell’s Fresh division in 2015 for $231 million. Garden Fresh was founded by Jack and Annette Aronson.

Latella’s role at McClure’s Pickles will focus on growing the company into a global producer of food and beverage items.

“After an extensive search, we are excited to begin this next chapter at McClure’s and work with John,” says Bob and Joe McClure, brothers and co-founders of McClure’s Pickles. “His strong background in building exceptional teams, personality, and experience in the food and beverage industry are just a few of the many attributes he brings to the table. We’re happy to have him onboard.”

McClure’s Pickles was founded in 2006 using a recipe from the brothers’ great grandmother. A family owned and operated company, McClure’s pickles are hand packed. The products are all natural, gluten free, and kosher certified.

The company currently distributes pickles, drink mixers, and salty snacks to more than 4,000 national and independent retailers throughout the U.S., U.K., Australia, and New Zealand.
