Detroit Barbers, an old-school barber shop offering hot shaves and haircuts, has opened a new location at 2000 Michigan Ave. in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood. Owners Chad and Jami Buchanan opened their first barber shop in April 2016 in Ferndale before expanding the company footprint to Detroit.

“At Detroit Barbers, we placed the focus on the city and talented individuals who inspire us each day, says Chad. “We have hired some of the most talented barbers and stylists in the industry.”

Client services at both locations include haircuts, hot shaves, straight razor shaves, beard trims, and design trends.

“Our clients not only look their best when they leave our shops, they feel better too,” adds Jami. “We’re more than a business, we’re a family here. And we treat our staff and visitors as family, too.”

The barber shop features classic décor elements including a vintage jukebox and pinball machine. Antique lighting and chairs were also purchased from Michigan’s oldest operating barber shop, Baglio’s Culter, which opened in 1903 in Croswell, near the thumb.

Future plans for Detroit Barbers Corktown location include an apothecary and coffee bar. Appointment information can be found here.
