Taylor-based Atlas Oil Co. has deployed 79 trucks and drivers to regions of Texas and Florida affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, the largest deployment in the company’s 32-year history. As fuel shortages continue to affect the nation’s fuel supply chain, Atlas’ national network of drivers and logistics personnel is supporting private and public sector organizations in need of emergency fuel.

“Fuel is a necessity for first responders, military and other agencies to begin the relief and restoration of areas affected by Harvey and Irma,” says Bob Kenyon, Atlas Oil’s president and COO. “We’re proud of the work our drivers and emergency response team members have done to make this historic dual deployment possible.”

While 31 percent of the nation’s refining capacity was shut-in following Hurricane Harvey’s landfall on the Texas coast, Atlas was able to supplement fuel shortages by tapping into the company’s expansive nationwide network of fuel terminals, accessing millions of gallons of fuel. The continued shortages in Texas put additional strain on mission critical organizations throughout the region when Hurricane Irma hit Florida earlier this week.

Approximately 6.5 million people were without power following Hurricane Irma’s arrival in Florida, making Atlas’ emergency fuel deliveries critical to the state’s relief efforts. Atlas Oil has been working to secure product from other markets and safely deliver emergency fuel to contracted fuel assurance customers.

Founded in 1985, Atlas Oil is the inaugural Simon Group Holdings company and offers single source solutions for fuel, transportation, and logistics, delivering more than 1 billion gallons of fuel annually to customers in 46 states.
