Chicago-based American Girl, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mattel Inc. will be returning to a 6,000-square-foot location at Twelve Oaks Mall from Saturday, June 24 to Sunday, January 28, 2018. The store will feature an assortment of the company’s dolls, clothing, accessories, and a selection of historical and contemporary fiction, advice, and activity books.

“We’re absolutely thrilled that American Girl has decided to return to the mall, it was a huge hit for our shoppers last year,” says Emily Taucher, marketing and sponsorship director for Twelve Oaks Mall. “With this being the first Michigan store, and the other nearest locations being Columbus and Chicago, the plan was always for them to come in on a temporary pop-up basis, so we were excited when they decided to return based on their success in this market and the overwhelming support from our shoppers.”

American Girl will be celebrating their return with a grand opening event from June 24-25, where shoppers can receive a complimentary gift and craft while supplies last. Customers can also enter for a chance to win a 2017 Girl of the Year collection featuring the 18-inch Gabriela doll, accessories, and paperback book.

While more than 1,000 doll enthusiasts lined up to celebrate the company’s arrival last year, Taucher adds that American Girl will be distributing tickets and staggered entry times for those interested in visiting the store during the grand opening, to avoid long lines.

“American Girl is a unique brand because their focus is on empowering girls and helping them reach their full potential, so every doll, book, message, and experience is designed to show girls they should be valued and build them up,” Taucher adds. “Walking into an American Girl store is also very much an experience, it’s not something you can get online, and they’ve curated every display, and we think that’s going to drive a lot of shoppers to Twelve Oaks and American Girl.”
