Global discount supermarket chain Aldi today announced stores across metro Detroit will begin restorations, as part of the company’s nationwide plan to remodel and expand more than 1,300 stores nationwide by 2020. More than $28 million of the company’s $1.6 billion investment across the U.S. will be allocated to renovating 20 Detroit-area stores by the end of 2019.
The new Aldi store look delivers on customers’ preference for a modern and convenient shopping experience with a focus on fresh items, including produce, dairy, and baked goods. Remodeled stores will also feature an updated design, open ceilings, natural lighting, and environmentally friendly building materials, including recycled materials, energy-saving refrigeration, and LED lighting.
“It has been a pleasure to serve the Detroit community for 21 years, and we’re pleased to invest more than $28 million in updating our Detroit-area stores to better serve our existing and new customers,” says Ryan Fritsch, Webberville division vice president for ALDI. “We know there’s only one way to attract and keep fans: continually providing the highest-quality products, while staying true to what our competitors can’t match — everyday low prices.”
Over the past few years, ALDI has added several new product lines, including a growing organic selection, USDA choice meats, the “liveGfree” gluten-free products, Simply Nature products, and the Never Any! line of antibiotic-free meats. All Aldi exclusive brand food products are free of added MSG, certified synthetic colors, and partially hydrogenated oils.
