U-M MySwimPro Accelerator Venture Earns Apple Watch App of the Year

2061

Apple Store editors have made their picks for the best apps, music, and movies for 2016, and MySwimPro, an application supported by the University of Michigan’s Desai Accelerator has been named Apple Watch App of the Year for 2016.

MySwimPro is the top fitness application for competitive swimmers in over 150 countries and the first swimming application designed for the Apple Watch. It helps swimmers achieve their goals by delivering customizable workouts, instructional videos, and advanced analytics for training purposes.

The watch coaches users lap-by-lap and syncs with a corresponding iPhone application which features hundreds of workouts with varying skill levels, stroke category, and duration.

“We’re dedicated to helping people who are looking for a personal coaching program that meets their unique schedule and training needs,” says Fares Kesbati, co-founder and CEO of MySwimPro. “Our app combined with the Apple Watch’s water-resistant technology creates a workout program that fits into any swimmer’s training routine.”

The Desai Accelerator’s 2016 program is managed by the College of Engineering’s Center for Entrepreneurship and the Ross School of Business’ Samuel Zell and Robert H. Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies.

Four-time Olympic medalist and U-M alum Peter Vanderkaay serves as an advisor to MySwimPro, and has the app attracted 100,000 users in the past year.
