Security Innovation, a Massachusetts-based automotive cyber security company, has announced it is an affiliate industry member of the University of Michigan’s Mobility Transformation Center in Ann Arbor.
As part of the affiliation, Security Innovation will be providing connected vehicle and roadside equipment security services from its Automotive Centers of Excellence to improve the cyber security and privacy protection of connected vehicles, as well as providing security training from its catalog of over 120 computer-based training curricula.
“Connected and automated vehicles hold the potential to dramatically improve the safety, sustainability, and accessibility of our mobility system,” says Huei Peng, director of the MTC. “We are pleased to welcome Security Innovation as an affiliate member. The company joins more than 40 other MTC affiliates representing a range of industries that are working with MTC to help accelerate progress toward that transformative vision.”
Security Innovation, founded in 2002, is focused on securing and protecting sensitive data in automobiles, desktops, web applications, mobile devices, and in the cloud.
The MTC is a public-private partnership focused on advancing the development of connected and automated vehicles that can help improve the safety, sustainability, and accessibility of how people and goods move from place to place. One of the center’s central goals is to develop and implement an advanced system of connected and automated vehicles in Ann Arbor by 2021.
The MTC, with support from the Michigan Department of Transportation, built Mcity, a full-scale simulated urban-suburban environment for testing connected and automated vehicles before they are ready to join real traffic. Mcity, which opened in July 2015, sits on a 32-acre site on the university’s North Campus.
