Rusted Crow, a popular Dearborn Heights distillery and tasting room, will expand next month with the opening of a bar and restaurant in downtown Detroit.
“(Rusted Crow Detroit will) spotlight the four products we have currently, and also carry other Michigan craft beers and a couple of other spirits to go along with it — we’ll bring in tequila and other whiskeys and bourbons since we don’t make those yet,” says Arielle Bumbul, manager of Rusted Crow Sprits. Fredrick Giordano, the brother-in-law of Rusted Crow Spirits owner Joe Schebel, is opening up the restaurant/bar concept.
Bumbul says the restaurant will be on the ground floor of the Kales Building, located at 76 W. Adams Ave., near Grand Circus Park and Cliff Bell’s. She says the space will seat between 120 to 150 customers, and will feature a 50-foot-long bar along with a stage for live music. She says the menu will include burgers, sandwiches, salads, and a few soups.
“(It will be) bar food but a little bit more upscale with fresh ingredients,” Bumbul says.
Bumbul says the cocktail menu is in development, but will include a few favorite cocktails from the Dearborn Heights tasting room and range in price from $6 to $10. Rusted Crow distills vodka, rum, moonshine, and gin.
She says the interior of the space will look similar to the Dearborn Heights location, with rusted metals, barn wood, and exposed brick features for a “warm and inviting” look.
The Kales Building, originally named the Kresge Building, was designed in 1914 by famed architect Albert Kahn. It was constructed as the world headquarters of the S.S. Kresge Co.
