Ram today introduced the Ram Rebel TRX concept, a 100-mph, off-road truck with 575 horsepower. Using a supercharged 6.2p-liter Hemi V-8 engine, the vehicle is the most powerful half-ton truck the company has ever built. Production plans for the concept will be announced at a later date.

“With 575 supercharged horsepower and a suspension system built to withstand an all-day hammering, the Rebel TRX concept can devour the roughest terrain at more than 100 miles per hour,” says Mike Manley, head of Ram brand for FCA – Global, which has its North American headquarters in Auburn Hills.

The Ram Rebel TRX concept uses Ram’s 4×4 Performance Control System with a BorgWarner 44-45 transfer case so it can be used in different modes of transportation — normal, wet/snow, off-road, and baja. New calibrations were used for the engine, transmission, and drivetrain to optimize the expected high-speed off-road driving cycle of the vehicle.

Consisting of a steel frame structure, the Ram Rebel TRX features a hood based on the taller Ram Heavy Duty design, LED clearance lighting, 37-inch custom bead lock tires from Mopar, a front suspension incorporating custom-built upper and lower A-arms, a link coil rear suspension system, new 2.5-inch bypass shocks, a factory hydraulic-boost compensation unit to enhance brake pedal feel and performance, a rear steel bumper with tow hooks, and more.

The vehicle’s interior consists of suede with accent mesh cloth inserts, front seats with embroidered logos, an open upper glove box with elastic straps, an 8.4 Uconnect technology system, a custom camera mount on the rearview mirror, black rubberized coating floors, black all-weather mats, Header Red stitching, and nylon-strap door pulls embroidered with the word “Release.”

The Ram Truck brand was launched as a stand-alone division in 2009. Ram Truck brand sales, which include the Ram pickup, Ram ProMaster, and Ram ProMaster City, were up 2 percent in August versus the same month a year ago.
