Business owners and corporate executives from around the world will participate in the Minority Business Women’s Conference in Dearborn this July to discuss industry trends, share professional advice, and network.

The conference, hosted by the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council in Detroit and sponsored by Ford Motor Co., will feature national headliners, keynote speakers, discussion forums, and breakout sessions.

Speakers include Nina Vaca, chairman and CEO of Pinnacle Group in Dallas; Pamela Prince-Eason, president and CEO of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council in Washington, D.C.; Susan Au-Allen, national president and CEO of the U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation in Washington, D.C.; and Linzie Venegas, vice president of the Ideal Group in southwest Detroit.

“The Minority Business Women’s Conference is designed to give minority women entrepreneurs and the corporate executives that support them the opportunity to gain insights on business trends and network with each other in an environment tailored to their needs,” says Michelle Sourie Robinson, president and CEO of the MMSDC. “We are truly excited to bring the top national game changers in supplier development to our great state.”

The conference will include seminars on topics such as communicating effectively in a male-dominated environment, marketing supplier diversity to consumers, and having a game plan for sustained success in entrepreneurial pursuits.

Tickets for the conference, to be held on July 27 at the Henry Hotel, located at 300 Town Center Dr., start at $200.

Daniel Jackson, manager of advertising and marketing for the council, says the conference will also be open to women business and engineering students with the goal of connecting them with mentors and job opportunities.

He says the council hopes to host the event annually or bi-annually in the coming years.
