Cadillac House Launches New Artist-robot Exhibit

Cadillac is partnering with Visionaire, a New York City-based art and culture magazine, to launch AutoPortrait, Cadillac House’s newest exhibit, to be held Oct. 12 – Nov. 4, which features a welding robot coded to be a human-like artist.

The robot — named ADA002 after the late computer programmer Ada Lovelace — will sketch portraits of guests at the exhibit.

As audiences arrive to view ADA in the gallery space at Cadillac House, located at 330 Hudson St. in New York City, the robot will select individuals and use image-processing algorithms to draw an image of its subject. This process includes transforming the viewer from a tangible being into processed computer data and back into a physical object that the subject can take home.

“The (AutoPortrait) exhibit gives a fresh take at the way technology can disrupt and advance creative industries, like the art community, to give new meaning to the true value of art,” says Eneuri Acosta, marketing communications manager for Cadillac. “Our artist robot, ADA0002, is also very similar to the robotics found in Cadillac manufacturing facilities so the exhibit provides a fresh perspective at the link between the auto world and the art world.”

AutoPortrait is open to the public at no cost from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.

Cadillac House functions as an art gallery, retail space, café, and exhibition area for the brand’s new vehicles. Along with Visionaire, Cadillac House is partners with New York-based coffeehouse Joe Coffee and The Council of Fashion Designers of America.
