Roseville-based Original Buscemi’s Inc., a pizza shop within a party store, will expand in the next six months with the addition of eight shops in metro Detroit. Buscemi’s will also open its first bar and grill-style restaurants in Keego Harbor and Waterford Township in the next two months.

Tony Buscemi, CEO of Buscemi’s, says he’s targeting Oakland County and the Downriver area for growth. He says in the next year, Buscemi’s franchises will open in Orchard Lake Village, Warren, Wyandotte, West Bloomfield Township, and Almont, among other cities. Buscemi says he expects to open a total of 10 to 12 party store concepts within the next year.

“Our expansion isn’t about going into new locations and building it from the ground up,” he says. “It’s basically converting existing party stores. We can convert stores within 60 days.”

Buscemi says the two Buscemi’s Pizza Bar and Grill’s will be the company’s first sit-down style restaurants, a similar concept to Buddy’s Pizza.

In 2015, Buscemi’s opened six stores. With the addition of the eight new restaurants in 2016, Buscemi’s will have 50 pizza party shops across the region.

Buscemi’s, founded in 1956, celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. Buscemi’s party shops offer a variety of pizza options, along with calzones, pizza rolls, subs, and salads.
