On-Demand Mail Services, a postal optimization firm that provides mail commingling, drop shipping, postal consulting, and international mailing, has acquired the assets of Livonia-based international mail processing company RCS International Inc. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Michael Chittam, CFO and vice president of administration at On-Demand Mail Services, says the company acquired RCS International Inc.’s customer base of nearly $4 million in annual sales.

“We already have a sizeable account base processing our customers’ international mail,” he says. “RCS was really the only other company in this region that does the same thing, so with the synergies between our two companies, it made sense to roll it all in our facility.”

RCS International, which works with international post offices to provide U.S. companies with postal delivery options, will move to On-Demand Mail Services’ headquarters in Auburn Hills, which has more than 200 employees.

“We’re basically rolling (RCS) into our existing business model,” Chittam says. “We’re already doing a fair amount of international mail, but we acquired a few employees in order to keep the synergies up with the customer base so they still have a few familiar contacts.”

Bob Shenefelt, president of RCS International, will continue as an advisor to the On-Demand Mail Services management team.

“The combination of these two companies positions us for long-term growth,” says Rob Quick, vice president of operations at On-Demand Mail Services. “It will bring our clients access to expanded worldwide mail routing and yield operational efficiencies.”

Founded in 2008, On-Demand Mail Services also has locations in Hebron, Ky., and Burlington, N.J. The company has a total of nine letter sorting, eight flat sorting, and seven parcel sorting machines throughout its locations.
