Nearly 30 new 2016 boat models will premiere at the Detroit Boat Show held at Cobo Center in downtown Detroit next month.

Nicki Polan, manager of the 58th annual Detroit Boat Show, says the show, to be held Feb. 13-21, will feature yachts, runabouts, personal watercrafts, pontoons, fishing boats, ski and wakeboard boats, inflatables, cabin cruisers, paddleboats, and bowriders. She says the show will also offer accessories, engines, trailers, electronics, marinas, and fishing gear.

“(The Detroit Boat Show offers) hundreds of boats all under one roof to see and purchase with on-site financing with rates remaining at all-time lows,” Polan says.

She says the show will also feature an alligator show in which a “swampmaster” will catch an eight-foot, 200-pound alligator with his bare hands; a seminar series on how to maintain an engine, fish from a kayak, and decorate a boat, among other topics; a kids’ zone with crafts and face painting; and a free boaters safety course.

According to the Michigan Secretary of State, 1 million boats are registered in in the state, with an estimated 4 million boaters.

Admission to the Detroit Boat Show is $12 for adults, children age 12 and under get in free with an adult.

Last year, the Detroit Boat Show expanded to cover 350,000 square feet of Cobo Center, an increase of 50,000 square feet from the year before. â€‹
