To stay ahead of the fast-paced changes in autonomous technology, the North American International Auto Show today announced the first round of automakers and suppliers that will showcase future mobility innovations as part of AutoMobili-D.

The technology-laden exhibit will include displays, demonstrations, and for the first time, an outdoor track featuring the latest in mobility platforms. The 1.5-mile, closed-looped track will run along the Detroit River and will be used by journalists and Industry Day attendees.

The 2017 auto show, to be held at Cobo Center in downtown Detroit from Jan. 14-22 (public days), will open AutoMobili-D on Jan. 8, the day prior to the start of NAIAS Press Days (Jan. 9-10), and will run through NAIAS Industry Days (Jan. 11-12).

“Having international media and industry attendees get behind the wheel and experience these exciting, cutting-edge innovations in potentially inclement weather adds a unique dynamic to AutoMobili-D,” says Sam Slaughter, 2017 NAIAS chairman and a partner of Sellers Auto Group, which includes Sellers Buick GMC in Farmington Hills, Bowman Chevrolet and Sellers Renew Auto Center in Clarkston, and Sellers Bowman Subaru in Macomb Township.

“AutoMobili-D is quickly filling-up with automakers, suppliers, and tech startups eager to … display technologies and platforms that will transform the future of transportation,” Slaughter adds. “We’ve traveled the world meeting with industry-leading companies and their response to our mobility platform and the global attention NAIAS participants garner has been tremendous.”

Automakers, suppliers, and industry groups that will participate in AutoMobili-D include General Motors Co., Nissan, Toyota, Magna, ZF, Schaeffler, IBM, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and Michigan Economic Development Corp. Auto show organizers say AutoMobili-D will feature more than 100 companies.
