Information technology solutions provider VisionIT today announced the opening of its innovation center within its headquarters in Detroit’s New Center, north of the Midtown District, that’s designed to accelerate the research and development of new products and offer space for training and collaboration.

The VisionIT Innovation Center has hired 25 new employees and is expected to add another 150 employees over the next 18 months. The company’s headquarters is located in the New Center One Building at West Grand Boulevard and Second Avenue.

“We believe we have an obligation to our customers across the globe to drive business success by creating the most technically talented teams in the industry, and to pioneer game-changing solutions with our customers and partners,” says David Segura, CEO of VisionIT.

Segura says the center was designed to create a space to bring together IT industry partners and organizations to develop new solutions and showcase IT-enabled technologies. The innovation center will include both on-site and off-site employees.

“Our goal with … the innovation center is to provide a physical and virtual environment to facilitate employee, partner, and company growth through collaboration, training, marketing, and software development activities,” says Paul Toenjes, senior vice president of VisionIT.

VisionIT is a subsidiary of Vision Information Technologies Inc., founded in 1997. In March, VisionIT announced the company changed its business structure and operates as three wholly owned, individually branded subsidiaries — VisionIT, VisionPRO, and Prime Workforce.
