Troy-based G2 Consulting Group Acquires Birmingham Engineering Firm

2045

Troy-based G2 Consulting Group, a geoenvironmental and construction engineering firm, has acquired Birmingham-based Schleede-Hampton Associates, a company that provides similar geotechnical engineering services in the construction industry. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"This acquisition fits perfectly into our planned growth strategy and will help us immediately with work already on hand," says Mark Smolinski, president of G2. "It will provide us access to markets that are strategically important for our future."

G2, which has satellite offices in Ann Arbor and Chicago, has nearly 45 employees. The eight-member Schleede-Hampton team will be integrated into G2's Troy offices by the end of the year. James Berry, who has managed the Birmingham office for more than 25 years, will remain with G2 and continue to manage and provide engineering services for municipal and private infrastructure projects.

G2 Consulting was founded in 1994 and works on telecommunications, land development, and civil infrastructure projects across the U.S.  Smoliski says Schleede-Hampton, founded in 1983, will provide G2 "access to important new clients in the automotive and municipal engineering markets." He says G2 has recently picked up an assignment on an automotive facility in the south.
