Troy-based Badger Launches Logistics App to Track Freight in Real Time
Troy-based Badger, a logistics data management provider, has launched an app that provides a freight tracking system for shippers, logistics firms, and trucking companies. Data generated by the mobile platform is confidential, meaning customers can’t see what their competition is doing.
“There was a drastic need for the ability to access real time data throughout the freight and fleet process,” says Parker Stallard, founder and CEO of Badger.
The app features an interface that allows clients to view their supply chain in transit, and shows the shipment’s origin, destination, completion to its schedule, and delays, as well as automatically updated delivery estimated times of arrival.
Updates are sent directly to the user’s mobile device. Drivers also provide updates on their smartphones as it relates to traffic, weather conditions, and down times due to a mechanical issue.
All freight deliveries within the app can be viewed on a map, and users have access to confidential contact information and shipment properties.
The app, which has a potential market of 3.2 million truck drivers in the U.S. and thousands of shipping companies, was funded by Badger and developed and designed by Detroit-based Detroit Labs and Royal Oak-based iWerk. Badger costs $99 per month.
