The Royal Family Thanksgiving and the Royal Family Christmas films, both starring Vivica A. Fox, are currently being filmed on multiple locations across the city of Detroit. The movies, which will air this winter on TV One, received film incentives from the Michigan Film Office.

The movies, which follow the Royal Family as they navigate the holiday season, are being filmed in Indian Village, the Majestic Theater, the Masonic Temple, and more than 25 other city locations. Filming is expected to last five weeks.

Fox, known for her roles in Independence Day and Resurgence; Romeo Miller, formerly known as Lil' Romeo; and Tichina Arnold, known for her roles in Everybody Hates Chris and Martin are starring in the film.

Launched in 2004, TV One serves an estimated 57 million households with programming designed for African American viewers. Royal Family Thanksgiving will air on Nov. 21 and Royal Family Christmas will air on Dec. 5.

The Royal Family Thanksgiving received a nearly $176,000 tax incentive based on spending of more than $502,000 and the hiring nearly 60 state workers and eight extras. The Royal Christmas received an incentive of nearly $158,000 based on the spending of more than $493,000 and the hiring of 55 workers and eight extras. Earlier in the summer, legislation was signed into law eliminating the film incentive program. Incentive agreements for the Royal Family films were approved before the legislation took effect.
