Shiloh Industries Inc., a supplier of lightweighting noise and vibration solutions that recently opened a technical center in Plymouth Township, today announced plans to open a new aluminum casting plant in Nantong, China, near Shanghai.

The venture is in partnership with Suzhou Sanji Foundry Equipment Co. Ltd., although Shiloh is the majority shareholder in the plant.

“We continue to expand our global footprint to meet the growing lightweighting needs of the automotive industry,” says Ramzi Hermiz, president and CEO of Shiloh.

The plant will manufacture Shiloh’s aluminum products using high-pressure die-casting and squeeze casting. Sanji produces squeeze-casting machines.

“Shiloh offers the broadest portfolio of lightweighting solutions in the industry, along with Sanji who produces one of the best squeeze casting machines,” Hermiz says. “This new venture in China will allow us to better serve our customers, both domestic and global OEMs.”

Shiloh is a global supplier of lightweighting and noise, vibration, and harshness solutions to the automotive and commercial vehicle industries. Within Michigan, the company has technical centers in Warren and Plymouth Township, along with plants in Roseville, Warren, Canton Township, and Alma.

The $30 million plant in Nantong, China will employ about 130 people and is expected to open in mid-2016. The plant will be located about 45 miles from Shiloh’s upcoming China Technical Center in Shanghai.
