The Detroit Regional Chamber’s annual Mackinac Island Policy Conference, a four-day gathering of the state’s political and business leaders, will feature former emergency manager of the city of Detroit Kevyn Orr; Bill Ford, executive chairman of Ford Motor Co.; and statistician and author Nate Silver.

“This year’s conference will challenge Michigan’s leaders with innovative ideas to move this state forward,” says Mark Davidoff, 2015 conference chair.

The event will feature panels that explore strategies to cultivate a skilled workforce in Detroit, provide insight into Detroit’s Grand Bargain, and offer strategies to build a public transportation system in southeastern Michigan, among others. New to the 2015 conference will be panels about race, health, inclusion, and opportunity.

Speakers include Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, Gov. Rick Snyder, author Dan Senor, presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, and Whole Foods co-CEO Walter Robb, among others.

Four Detroit-based entrepreneurs will also present a pop-up shopping experience at the Mission Point Resort. Products will be from stores including the woman’s apparel store, The Peacock Room; the accessories store, Cyberoptix Tie Lab; the bakery, Sweet Potato Sensations; and jewelry retailer Rebel Nell.

The conference will be held May 26-29 at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. To register, click here
