A Baker’s Tale, a Chicago bakery founded by Christine LaSorda, the daughter of Tom LaSorda, former CEO of Chrysler and founder of Birmingham-based IncWell LLC, will expand nationally with the launch of A Baker’s Tale Mail Order LLC.

“It was only a matter of time that customer demand for A Baker’s Tale treats would warrant an expansion beyond its Wicker Park neighborhood location in Chicago,” says Tom LaSorda, who will serve as CEO of A Baker’s Tale Mail Order. “I am thrilled to be partnering with my daughter Christine and, since she is the majority owner, I will be working for her. How cool is that?”

The father-daughter duo have partnered with Sava Lelcaj of Ann Arbor-based Savco Hospitality Inc., to manage and bake the goods in the company’s commercial kitchen.

“We are very excited about the partnership between Savco and A Baker’s Tale and the opportunities that this partnership brings to consumers, team members, and other business partners,” says Lelcaj, who also owns the restaurants Aventura, Sava’s, and Babo Market. “A Baker’s Tale exceptional products combined with our decade of experience in restaurant, retail, and large-scale production will allow us to share these culinary delights with consumers across the country.”

A Baker’s Tale Mail Order will launch “Taste The Story” featuring a cookie pack with eight cookie varieties including chocolate chunk, chocolate chunk with walnuts, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, gluten-free peanut butter chocolate chunk, white chocolate cherry, lemon sugar, and sugar. The bakery will eventually sell tarts, pies, bars, cakes, and cookie dough shipped to arrive within two days in temperature-controlled packaging.

The Birmingham 8 Theater will soon begin selling all eight of the “Taste The Story” characters.
