The first off the assembly line 2016 Cadillac CT6 will be auctioned off at an event tonight to benefit the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in the Detroit Medical Center. The proceeds from the auction will support the expansion of the institute’s intensive care unit and the development of a 24-hour acute care clinic. The sedan normally retails for around $70,000.
“We are thrilled to continue that tradition by donating our time, funds, and assets to support the Karmanos Cancer Institute’s world renowned patient care and research,” says Bob Ferguson, GM’s senior vice president of global public policy.
The CT6 will be auctioned off at the 13th Annual Palm Beach Auction in Palm Beach, Fla., but online bids will also be accepted. The winning bidder will receive a letter of authenticity and a 2016 CT6 in the color of his/her choice.
The 2016 Cadillac CT6, a full-size luxury car, has a lightweight body structure that is aluminum intensive, but made of 13 different materials, and has a 3.0-liter V-6 Twin-Turbo engine. The car is designed to compete with the BMW and Lexus brands.
The Karmanos Cancer Institute has 300 physicians and researchers, and 1,000 staff members. Earlier this year, the GM Foundation donated $500,000 to support cancer research at Karmanos.
