Detroit’s College for Creative Studies will host its 90th annual student exhibit starting May 15, and will showcase more than 3,500 pieces of artwork from its student body.
“Through their studies, we transform ambitious students into masters of their craft, and this event gives us a platform to showcase their unbridled talent,” says Richard Rogers, president of the college. “The remarkable interest we receive year over year is testament to the thriving art community in the Detroit area and how it continues to shape our region’s economic resurgence.”
Located in the heart of Detroit, the fully accredited college enrolls more than 1,400 students pursuing Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees.
The exhibit, which runs from May 15-29, offers visitors the opportunity to purchase many of the original pieces, with all proceeds going directly to the students. The event is free to attend.
The May 15 opening night celebration features a VIP reception, an art educators’ reception, food from local restaurants, wine, beer, and entertainment from local musicians. Funds from the opening receptions support student scholarships and free art programs for Detroit children.
The exhibition is held at The A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education, 460 W. Baltimore Ave. in Detroit’s New Center district.
