The newest Carhartt retail store will open next week in Detroit’s Midtown district. The Dearborn-based work wear clothing company will carry nearly 550 styles of men’s, women’s, and kid’s apparel at the store, along with footwear and accessories.

“Carhartt was established in Detroit 126 years ago so we’re very excited to open a Carhartt retail store in midtown,” says Jamie Millar, vice president of retail operations at Carhartt. “This store is several years in the making and we’ve been rejuvenating the building for months. We can’t wait to open the doors next week Thursday and let everyone see our new flagship store.”

The three-story, 51,000-square-foot store, 5800 Cass Ave., is visible from the I-94 expressway. The store will occupy the first floor of the building.

The store is in the former home of Cass Motor Sales, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building was constructed in 1928 by famed local architect Charles Degree, following an art deco design and construction, to serve as an automobile showroom.

The Midtown retail store will mark the brand’s 20th company-owned retail store, with storefronts in Seattle, Chicago, and Cincinnati.

The grand opening celebration for the store will be Aug. 27.
