AquaPalooza, a national on-the-water two-day concert, returns to Lake St. Clair in Harrison Township next weekend, featuring Michigan bands such as Rye Whiskey and the Meldrum Brothers.

The bands will play on a concert stage that spans out into the lake. Accessible only by water — guests arrive by boats, paddleboats, canoes, wave runners, kayaks, or any other water transportation. Cars will not have access to the marina.

“The event has gotten bigger and there’s been more and more sponsors,” says Tom Haag, southeast regional director of the Michigan Boating Industry, and the event organizer for AquaPalooza in Michigan. “There’s more flexibility and entertainment … (it’s) all about fun people, family, and friends.”

Haag says the free, two-day event, held at the Belle Maer Harbor, will feature seven bands, including four with a country focus on July 25 and three with a rock focus on July 26. Performers include Audrey Ray, John King, Kelsea Ballerini, Mega 80s, and JoCaine, along with the DJ Liquid Entertainment.

Sea Ray, a boat manufacturer, first started the event 15 years ago in Alabama. Now, the festival is held in locations across the United States such as South Carolina, Missouri, and Tennessee.
