Current Motor, an electric vehicle development and manufacturing company based in Ann Arbor, today unveiled a fleet of electric cargo motorcycles targeted specifically for companies, municipalities, first responders, and the military.

“Current Motor’s green mini-fleets are turnkey and self-contained, and literally work out of the box upon delivery to customer sites,” says Lauren Flanagan, executive chair of Current Motor.

The motorcycles have a top speed of 70 miles per hour, can travel up to 50 miles per charge, can carry 450 pounds (two people or one person, plus tools and cargo), and are outfitted with GPS for asset tracking. The dashboard configuration provides for customized reports to track carbon savings, emissions reduction, and fleet performance data.

The zero-emissions vehicles can be fully charged within five hours by the company’s patent-pending solar charging station, which has 22 kilowatt-hour storage and a solar panel array capable of generating 2.4 kilowatts of renewable energy over 24 hours.

Combined, the four motorcycles and charging station comprise the company’s “Mini-fleet-in-a-box,” which can be transported by truck, rail, ship, or heavy-lift helicopter. Current Motor has already received orders for the product and is manufacturing sets for global mining and manufacturing companies, Flanagan says.
