Representatives of the North American International Auto Show announced today that the Steve Miller Band will perform following the Charity Preview at Cobo Center on Friday, Jan. 16. The Charity Preview, the largest single night fundraiser in the world, runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
“Steve Miller Band is legendary and we are absolutely ecstatic that he'll be our very special musical guest at charity preview, helping us celebrate an amazing night and a spectacular week in Detroit,” says Scott LaRiche, chairman of the NAIAS 2015.
Since 1976, the auto show’s charity preview has raised more than $96 million for southeastern Michigan children's charities. This year, organizations to benefit from the event include Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan, Boys Hope Girls Hope Detroit, Children's Center, Children's Hospital of Michigan Foundation, The Detroit Institute for Children, Judson Center, March of Dimes Metro Detroit, Detroit PAL, and the DADA Charitable Foundation Fund (which assists numerous other charities).
"When the show floor closes, the legend begins," LaRiche says. Admittance to "An Evening with Steve Miller Band" will be permitted with the purchase of a Charity Preview ticket.
The Steve Miller Band, with hits such as “Fly Like An Eagle,” and “Living In The U.S.A.,” has sold more than 40 million records and recently closed out a 2014 summer tour that traveled to more than 30 cities. Miller also makes time to perform with youth symphonies across the country on behalf of Kids Rock Free, a music education program for children.
