South Lyon-based Michigan Seamless Tube has acquired the exclusive rights to a select brand of seamless pressure pipe from Novi-based Wheatland Tube, making the manufacturer the sole domestic producer of the specialty pipe to the North American steel market.

“As always, (our company) remains dedicated to providing its customers with only the highest levels of customer service on goods that are 100-percent melted and manufactured in the USA,” says Ted Fairley, spokesman for Michigan Seamless Tube. “This commitment will now extend to a diversified product line and expanded customer base.”

The specialty pipe, known as the Blue Diamond A106, is used by major refineries, petro-chemical plants, power plants, boiler fabricators, heat exchangers, and other facilities to transport fluids and gasses which reach high temperatures and pressure levels.

Founded in 1927, Michigan Seamless Tube produces more than 40,000 tons of pipe and tube each year for industries including aerospace, mining, construction, automotive, and agriculture.

The acquisition follows a relationship that first began between the two organizations two years ago, Fairley says.

“We’ve been extremely pleased with the private label partnership we’ve forged with MST and the working relationship we’ve built with them,” says Mark Magno, president of Wheatland Pipe Division, based in Sharon, Pa. “They consistently provide exceptional quality and customer service, and we will happily refer all current and future Wheatland standard pipe customers to MST for all of their A106 seamless pressure pipe needs.”
