Walsh College in Troy is offering a new series of leadership classes in January aimed at improving the development and growth of today’s middle managers.
“The most important relationship a leader has in the workplace is the one with his/her employees,” says Diane Morrison, owner of 2-Way Communications in Clarkston, and co-instructor for the series with Lee Meadows, a professor of management at Walsh College. “This course will provide leaders with the practical skills and knowledge to improve how they motivate people and obtain results.”
The seven-session course — designed for mid-level managers and recently promoted leaders at small and mid-sized companies — will address topics concerning delegation, conflict management and resolution, coaching for performance, emotional intelligence, giving and receiving feedback, and partnering for performance.
Morrison says the Leadership-YOU certificate program is ideal for companies that don’t already provide in-house leadership training.
“It is exciting to launch this new leadership course with Walsh College’s signature strategy for excellence in the academic sphere as well as in the marketplace,” says Tara Miceli, director of the Walsh Institute, the college’s professional development arm, which will offer the series. “It is an opportunity that has not been offered quite like this locally, and today’s workplaces will certainly benefit from more informed, strategic, and confident leaders.”
Registration for the course — which runs Jan. 8 through April 9 — is $1,595 per person before Dec. 15. Afterward, registration will increase to $1,725 per person.
