Chrysler has teamed up with Google Maps Business View to create a 360-degree virtual tour showing the assembly process of the 2015 Chrysler 200 at the Sterling Heights Assembly plant, where the automaker invested nearly $1 billion for the sedan’s production.

“Just as we pioneered a completely new Chrysler 200, we are pioneering a new way for consumers to research a vehicle,” says Olivier Francois, chief marketing officer at Chrysler Group. “The factory tour is an opportunity for us to prove to consumers that the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 is not one ever built before. It’s ‘all-new’ in every aspect, and will challenge consumer perceptions in the mid-size segment.”

To connect the public, Chrysler brought in Google-certified photographers to capture the auto-manufacturing process through a variety of films and photographs that can now be accessed at chrysler200factory.com.

The website includes 12 different videos — narrated by plant employee Shawn Jeffers — highlighting different areas of the 5 million-square-foot assembly plant. Users can also opt to take self-guided tours through the facility, virtually stopping to watch more than 1,000 robots work to build a single automobile in the body shop, as well as watch a team of engineers and tradesmen review each vehicle’s measurements in the metrology center.

“I personally wish everyone could visit the plant to walk through and experience the fascinating process live,” Francois says. “But since we can’t bring people to the plant, we’ve worked with Google to openly bring the plant to the people, so they can themselves experience how these processes drive precision, reliability, and deliver an exceptional and truly all-new Chrysler 200.”

With highway fuel economy of up to 36 miles per gallon, the 2015 Chrysler 200 features a nine-speed automatic transmission paired with an Alfa Romeo-based chassis. It carries a U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of $21,700.
