Ferndale’s Bollinger Motors Wednesday unveiled a preview of its newest vehicle design: an all-electric, all-wheel drive B2 pickup truck.

Like its predecessor, the B1, the B2 sports a dual motor, hydropneumatic suspension, in-wheel portal gear hubs, a 120-kilowatt-hour battery pack, large front truck space, and pass-through doors for transporting long items.

“The new B2 incorporates everything that we’ve learned in making the B1, and takes it in an exciting new direction,” says Robert Bollinger, founder of Bollinger Motors. “It’s always been the plan to have both the B1 and B2 start off our lineup.

“Now that we have so much incredible data from testing our B1 prototype, we can put all of that engineering knowledge into our final four-door B1 and B2 vehicles. It’s the pickup I always wanted and something crazy better than what’s available on the market today.”

Storage was a priority when designing the B2. The Bollinger Motors Pickup’s bed is 4 feet 1 inch wide by 5 feet 9 inches long, and with the internal cab tailgate down, the pickup can carry full 4-foot-by-8-foot sheets of plywood. The rear glass window also opens, allowing storage to the top of the cab. The new B2 can fit up to 72 sheets of 4-foot-by-8-foot plywood.

The B2 will be a class 3 work truck (10,001 gross vehicle weight rating) like the B1 with a hauling capacity of 5,000 pounds.

Bollinger Motors recently relocated to Ferndale from New York and is in the final stages of engineering development for its B1 truck. The company plans to manufacture the B2 on the same assembly line as the B1 in 2020.

Bollinger Motors is announcing a full suite of vehicle options, pricing, and delivery details in 2019 and is taking reservations for the B1 and B2 on their website with no money down.

The company was founded in 2014 and made the world’s first all-electric, on-and-off-road sport utility truck.
