James Townsend Elected to Wayne State University’s Order of the Coif

James H. Townsend, an attorney for Detroit-based Butzel Long, has been elected to Wayne State University’s (WSU) Chapter of the Order of the Coif. The honor is only available to law students who graduate in the top 10 percent of their class.

Prior to being a member of Butzel Long’s corporate and real estate practice group focusing on business, corporate, and real estate law, Townsend was a representative for the State of Michigan and served in Washington DC as a legislative director. Townsend has also served as brand manager for Ford Motor Co. where he founded and directed the Michigan Suburbs Alliance.

Townsend earned a master’s degree from the University of Michigan, and his JD from Wayne State University receiving a number of recognitions and scholarships.
