Van Buren Township Becoming Thriving Business Hub in Southeast Michigan

Published:

The Van Buren Township Downtown Development Authority is touting an economic boom in southeast Michigan.

"With tens of thousands of commuters traveling daily along I-94 and I-275 through the heart of this flourishing municipality, the township has become a growing hotspot for new development," says Lisa M. Lothringer, assistant executive director of the DDA.

Lothringer says the business organization has attracted a wide variety of new businesses over the last 25 years, including locally owned shops, nationwide franchises, and large corporations. Currently, construction is underway for a Starbucks along Belleville Road, and Menards will begin construction in the next few months with an opening planned for 2016.

“These are just two of the many recent projects that have Van Buren Township forging the path to business development and economic growth in southeast Michigan,” Lothringer says.

Additionally, she says the DDA has transformed the ambiance of the community as well, developing Quirk Park, renovating and rebuilding Township Hall and implementing numerous streetscape enhancements to beautify the Belleville Road business corridor.

“The lush trees, ample benches, colorful banners and decorative lighting evoke a warm, welcoming feel throughout the community, encouraging residents and visitors to engage with these public amenities and the surrounding businesses,” Lothringer says.

She says easy access to highway, rail lines, and having both Willow Run and Detroit Metropolitan Airport nearby puts the township at the center of national and international cargo and passenger travel patterns.

The DDA is planning to bring more businesses into Van Buren Township on Oct. 30-31 by hosting a booth at the upcoming Franchise Expo at the Suburban Showplace in Novi.

Officials from the DDA will introduce the Township to potential franchises looking to expand their business in southeast Michigan. For more information, visit the Van Buren DDA at Booth No. 330 or visit vanburendda.com.
