Harley Ellis Devereaux has received a recognition award as Landscape Architecture Firm of the Year by the Michigan Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
“We appreciate this recognition of our commitment to the profession of landscape architecture and to providing our clients with great spaces that help drive their success,” says Michael Cooper, president and managing principal at Harley Ellis Devereaux.
In addition to the firm award, Harley Ellis Devereaux also won a Merit Award in the Landscape Planning & Analysis category for the firm’s work on the Perrysburg Riverfront Master Plan in Perrysburg, Ohio. Harley Ellis Devereaux developed a master plan that includes four major open spaces, including Fort Meigs, Orleans Park, Riverside Park, and Hood Park. The Riverfront Master Plan seeks to re-establish connections that place the river at its appropriate position in the city as its most important natural resource and to restore its preeminence as a front door to the city.
“Because of the steep slopes from the bluff down to the river, the greatest planning and design challenge for creating connections is to elegantly resolve barrier-free routes from the city down to the water’s edge,” says Mark Hieber, Principal, Landscape Architecture, Harley Ellis Devereaux. “These transition areas then become major open space assets, providing striking vistas of the Maumee River.”
