ROCHESTER — Popular travel booking website, Orbitz.com, has named Rochester-based Royal Park Hotel with Best In Stay Elite, for being the highest-rated hotel in metro Detroit. The Elite Award is reserved for the hotel with the highest rating in each market.

The website honored nearly 400 top-rated properties in 75 destinations around the world. The award winners were chosen based on ratings given to a variety of hotel attributes on a scale of one to five, including amenities, maintenance, hotel staff, room comfort, location, and value.

“Orbitz is proud to honor these highly rated Best In Stay properties that provide exemplary service and make our customers’ hotel stays memorable,” said Peggy Bianco, spokeswoman for Orbitz.com.

Royal Park Hotel guests will receive $50 off a vacation package that includes a flight and hotel stay of three nights or more if booked through Orbitz.com using promotional code BESTINSTAY50 by Oct 31. The qualifying vacation packages can be booked from now until March 31, 2015.

“The holiday season is a wonderful time to visit the hotel. From Thanksgiving dinners to Holiday Tea and New Year’s Eve Celebrations, there is something for everyone to enjoy,” said Royal Park Hotel General Manager Jay Haratsis.

One of the hotel’s most notable holiday events is the unveiling of their iconic Gingerbread House – an annual tradition going on six years. This year’s towering 8-feet-tall sugary house debuts in the hotel lobby on November 12, carrying a “vintage toy” theme.

Royal Park Hotel will continue to partner with The Salvation Army during the holiday season selling charitable brick certificates, hosting red kettles in the lobby and donating a portion of dessert sales to The Salvation Army.
