DETROIT – Neighborhood Service Organization, a nonprofit human services agency, announced the addition of five new members to its board of directors.
The new board members are: Karen Noelle Clark; the Rev. Georgia A. Hill; Doneen McDowell; David Rudolph; and Charles Russell Simmons.
A fully licensed psychologist, Clark is the owner and manager of Clark & Associates Psychological Services, PC, an outpatient mental health facility for adults, adolescents and children in Southfield. A consultant and adviser to numerous organizations, including the city of Detroit Health Department, Clark has served in teaching positions at Wayne State University, Detroit Public Schools and Wayne County Community College. The Southfield resident received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, as well as her Ph.D., from Wayne State University.
The Rev. Hill is the associate pastor at Plymouth United Church of Christ in Detroit. There she provides leadership for youth and adult Christian Education, leads the Revelation Dance Ministry and conducts bible study. For more than a year, Hill also has been holding a weekly bible study class for the formerly homeless residents of the NSO Bell Building. Prior to serving in the ministry, she practiced law and worked in city government. Involved in several outreach ministries, Hill is an adjunct instructor at the Ecumenical Theological Seminary and Wayne State University. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Harvard Radcliffe College, juris doctor from Howard University Law School in Washington, D.C. and master’s degree from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. She resides in Detroit.
McDowell is the plant manager at General Motors’ Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant and Brownstown Battery Assembly Plant. The facilities she leads build some of the company’s most popular vehicles including the Chevrolet Volt and Cadillac ELR electric vehicles. Prior to her current position, she served as plant manager at Warren Transmission and worked in several manufacturing disciplines, all with GM. McDowell, a resident of Rochester, received her bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University and master’s degree from Kettering University.
A resident of Detroit, Rudolph is the founder and senior managing partner of D. Ericson & Associates Public Relations, a public relations and integrated-marketing firm. He previously held positions with Palace Sports & Entertainment, the Piston-Palace Foundation and Caponigro Public Relations. Rudolph holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Michigan State University and master’s degree in international affairs from Florida State University. He is a graduate of the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Leadership Detroit program, Class XXIV, and both Indiana and Wayne State University’s fundraising programs.
Simmons is vice president, Community Development Market Manager – Michigan at Citizens Bank. In this role he leads and coordinates the company’s community reinvestment performance and other programs that support economic development, affordable housing and more. He has nearly 35 years of banking experience, starting as a teller. The Canton resident received a bachelor’s degree in corporate finance from Wayne State University.
NSO offers mental health services, addiction treatment, early childhood education, youth programs, crisis intervention and suicide prevention to individuals and families in Wayne and Oakland counties.
