PLYMOUTH — Detroit Lions tight end Joe Fauria will be hosting his first ever FootGolf Tournament at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fox Hills Golf and Banquet Center to benefit the Michigan Urban Farming Initiative.
FootGolf rules are similar to the rules of golf and is played throughout the world in many different forms, but as a sport, it is regulated by the Federation for International FootGolf.
“I personally love golf and soccer so when I heard about FootGolf I was excited to put together an event where fans can come out for a good cause and have fun,” Fauria says. “Thanks to Fox Hills they are hosting this charity outing for us and have opened up their doors to make this a success,” Fauria.
The Michigan Urban Farming Initiative focuses on education by viewing urban farming and gardening as an educational opportunity to provide long term solutions to the problem of food insecurity in urban areas. Sustainability by growing foor locally to minimize environmental impacts on a local and global scale and by building relationship with the community to better achive their overall goals and objectives of creating a successful urban faming development in the city of Detroit.
Tickets for the Tournament can be purchased online at FoxHills.com. Tickets are $80 each and will include food from Happy’s Pizza, and a cart.
