DETROIT — The Detroit Institute of Arts presents A Night of Illusion: A DIA Gala Extravaganza from 6 p.m. to midnight on Nov. 9. This year’s annual gala fundraiser that supports the DIA’s educational programming will celebrate the cutting-edge medium of animation as never before seen in the DIA’s spaces. The unforgettable evening includes access to the special exhibition Watch Me Move: The Animation Show. Attire is glamorous black tie.

“We are delighted to feature something very different from previous galas,” said Graham W. J. Beal, DIA director. “The art of animation will permeate the event, from the glamorous décor to the Watch Me Move exhibition. We look forward to welcoming our guests and thank them for their support.”

Co-chairs of this year’s gala celebration are Karen W. Davidson, Lauren T. Fisher, Vivian R. Pickard and Nedda N. Shayota, all of Bloomfield Hills. This is the first time for each to chair the DIA’s largest annual fundraising event.

Drawing inspiration from the Watch Me Move exhibition, the gala will feature unexpected visual surprises. Forte Belanger will present culinary masterpieces, sumptuous desserts, and innovative craft cocktails. Entertainment will be provided by internationally known DJ DEFTMIX.

Sponsors of this year’s gala celebration include PVS Chemicals, Inc., Marjorie S. Fisher Fund, Becker Ventures, Strategic Staffing Solutions, Richard and Jane Manoogian Foundation, Kenwal Steel Corp., General Motors Foundation, DTE Energy Foundation, Tapper’s Diamonds and Fine Jewelry, and Scott Shuptrine.
