OXFORD — Relume Technologies, a leading manufacturer of light-emitting diode (LED) products and smart grid control systems for outdoor lighting applications, has appointed William Astary to its board of directors.

“The addition of Bill, a 35-year lighting veteran, to our board of directors not only provides Relume with extensive knowledge of the lighting industry, but also valuable insight into the business-side of lighting,” said Crawford Lipsey, CEO for Relume.

In addition to his role on the Relume board of directors, Astary serves as senior vice president of sales for Lumenergi, a Silicon Valley-based technology company focused on energy management through its Responsive Lighting Networks.

He has also held various positions in engineering, product development, marketing and sales, often with an international focus, at the company.

A native of Sterling, Ill., Astary holds a Bachelor of Science in industrial management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA in international business from Mercer University.  He is also a graduate of Harvard University’s Advanced Management Program  and Dartmouth’s Tuck School brand management course.

Astary is a 25-year member of the Illumination Engineering Society of North America. He also serves on the board of directors of the Jim H.
