Northville — For the sixth consecutive year, RE/MAX is top in home sales for Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties.

According to data from the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), RE/MAX sold more than 11,000 homes (an 18 percent market share) in Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties from Jan. 1, 2012 through Sept. 30, 2012. Its closest competitor sold just under 6,500 homes (a 10 percent market share) during this same time period.

“We are pleased to once again rank top in home sales for metro Detroit,” said Jeanette Schneider, vice president of RE/MAX of Southeastern Michigan. “We are very optimistic about the housing market right now. Home sales and prices are up throughout the region and homes are on the market for fewer days.”

To meet the demand of a stronger housing market, several local RE/MAX offices are expanding their locations this year, including Dearborn Heights, Northville, Oxford, Rochester and Shelby Township.

“What we are experiencing right now is pent-up buyer demand,” continued Schneider. “During the recession, many home sellers and buyers put their plans on hold. With favorable interest rates and an improving economy, all of that is finally changing. There is great demand right now for homes in good condition.”
