Simply Irresistible at Art Van in Royal Oak

A benefit for the Horatio Williams Foundation, which supplies uniforms for underprivileged inner city students, was held on Sept. 19 at the Art Van furniture store in Royal Oak. The evening event included fashion from Saks Fifth Avenue, a strolling dinner, and some of Hour Detroit's Best Dressed honorees including Norman Yatooma, Vivian Pickard, Monica Del Signore, Rhonda Walker, and Tom Schoenith. On Oct. 11, the Sanders Chocolate and Ice Cream Shoppe, located at the Morley Candy Makers corporate headquarters in Clinton Township, held a grand opening of its remodeled store. The renovation included two new waterfalls of real chocolate, a visible bakery, more marble countertops, 30 percent more room, and more indoor and outdoor seating.

KLA Laboratories Golf Outing

Dearborn-based KLA Laboratories hosted their annual golf outing on Sept. 11 to raise more than $60,000 for the Michigan Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Guests enjoyed a shotgun start, lunch on the course, dinner, a raffle, an auction, and awards.

DBusiness Breakfast Series with 2017 Class of 30 in Their Thirties

On Oct. 10, DBusiness magazine hosted a breakfast to honor the 2017 Class of 30 in Their Thirties at the Gem Theatre in downtown Detroit. The keynote speaker was Tony Michaels, president and CEO of The Parade Co. in Detroit, who addressed the business side of planning and operating America’s Thanksgiving Parade Presented by Art Van as well as the Ford Fireworks and other family-orientated events.
