DETROIT, November 12, 2010 – Farmington Hills, Mich.-based TGIF Entertainment Group today announced details of “Alto Reed’s AllStar Thanksgiving Celebration” concert scheduled for Friday, November 26, 2010 at The Fillmore Detroit (formerly the State Theatre). A portion of the proceeds from the event will support Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit programs that help unemployed Metro Detroiters earn jobs.“ Events like this help Goodwill continue leading the way in the fight against Metro Detroit unemployment,” said Mark Lane, director of public relations and special events for Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit.

Goodwill Industries is the only organization in Southeast Michigan solely dedicated to helping local individuals overcome employment challenges.

TGIF Entertainment Group worked with legendary SaxMan Alto Reed, founding and current member of “Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band,” to assemble a star-studded roster of Detroit’s top talent for this celebration of the Motor City’s rich music legacy. “This concert is about gathering musicians together rooted in Detroit history to give back and address a major crisis for the region,” said Reed.

Concert line-up features actor, playright and musician guitarist Jeff Daniels, Rock ‘n Roll icon Mitch Ryder and Motown great Martha Reeves. “We wanted to bring in the Motown sound and no one does it better than my friend Martha Reeves,” said Reed. Reeves, a lover of live instrumentation, is delighted to participate in a live concert with live music that helps the jobless, one her biggest causes. “Detroiters knew there was a recession before the country did, and we’ve got to be the ones to raise the awareness about the desperate jobs situation — our #1 priority,” said Ryder.  Reeves, a huge Mitch Ryder fan, recalls bumping into Ryder in front of the Apollo Theatre in Harlem decades ago. “We got our start in those days from contests and amateur shows. Motown’s artist development department groomed us and taught us to look and act like royalty.”

Concert goers will enjoy all the ingredients for a stellar night of Rock ‘n Soul in the “D” with Reed’s “Special Friends” including Muzik Mafia member Cowboy Troy, fresh from Nashville. Detroit area “A” list musicians “Rockin’ for Jobs” include Alto Reed’s Motor City AllStars featuring The Groove Council, The Howling Diablos with Jimmie Bones, The Brothers Groove, The Motor City Horns, Julianne and the Rogues, Jill Jack, Barbara Payton, David Shelby and more.

WCSX on-air personality, Doug Podell will be featured as the event emcee.

Reed’s extraordinarily diverse repertoire includes everything from performing with The Blues Brothers & for The Ventures Hall of Fame Induction to doing the soundtracks for Jeff Daniels films. Reed has created some of the most recognized Sax Hooks and Live Performance Styles in Rock & Roll, including Turn the Page/ Old Time Rock & Roll and a long list of Bob Seger Classics.

According to G. Anastasios Gikas, President of TGIF Entertainment Group, “We want to raise Detroiters recession weary spirits with a shot in the arm from the hardest working musicians in the country. This concert will be an evening to celebrate the Motor City’s rich music legacy.”
