October 18, 2010 – Detroit, Mich. – Dreams are made on October 21 at the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation (DHDC) Annual Dream Maker’s Gala. Six deserving students will receive a $1,000 scholarship to the college or trade school of their choice, a wardrobe makeover and a laptop for their continuing education. Students were selected by a committee based on their essay about their Vision for Detroit and an interview process.

The Dream Maker’s Gala, hosted by DTE Energy at One Energy Plaza in downtown Detroit, raises funds to continue providing important programs to southwest Detroit residents. It is an evening full of hope for the future of Detroit, urban art and a chance to make a direct impact on students.

The event features the DHDC Urban Arts gallery, entertainment provided by DHDC students and a silent auction filled with exciting items such as electronics, sports memorabilia, jewelry and more. DTE Energy’s own Tony Earley, Executive Chairman of the Board, will be the keynote speaker.
