Detroit to Host 2018 USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships

USA Volleyball today announced that Detroit will host the 2018 USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships (GJNC) on June 25 at Cobo Center. The competition will bring more than 1,208 teams, approximately 12,000 players, and more than 25,000 spectators to the city. A total of 26 titles will be awarded in five divisions and seven different age groups ranging from 11-and-under to 17-and-under.

Report: Parental Support for Skill Trades Career Paths Grows

A report released today by the Home Builders Association of Michigan (HBA Michigan) showed nearly 70 percent of Michigan parents would support the idea of their child pursuing a career in construction or other related skilled trades. The poll, consisting of 600 active voters, was conducted by Marketing Resource Group and demonstrated that 82.4 percent of voters would support a millage or other public funding to create and maintain vocation programs that attract and retain more students in skilled trades.

Mission Point Management Services Plans Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center for Detroit

Troy-based property management company Mission Point Management Services today announced plans to partner with Slavik Building and Development, Welbrook Senior Living, and Pierre and Hany Boutros after acquiring the former St. Mary’s Adult Foster Care Residence in Detroit. The company has plans to construct a 59-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, including 54 private suites, fully accessible private bathrooms, a full rehab center, dining and recreation facilities, and concierge services.
