Prince Concepts Unveils Plans for Major Development on Detroit's West Side

Prince Concepts today released plans for a major mixed-use development on various sites bounded by Forest and Warren avenues on Detroit’s West Side. The developments include The Sawtooth, Astro Coffee Roasting Facility/Ochre Bakery, Lafayette American, 5K, Magnet, and The Caterpillar. Together, they will offer rental housing, offices, and studios, along with a coffee shop, a restaurant and bar, and public outdoor spaces — all about 3½ miles northwest of downtown Detroit. Team Caden Open House at Lingenfelter Collection

On Aug. 11, the Congenital Heart Center and C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital hosted its Team Caden Open House in memory of 11-year-old Caden Bowles, who was cared for in the center. More than 200 rare and unique cars were on display at the Lingenfelter Collection in Brighton. Proceeds benefited the hospital.

11th Annual Troy Traffic Jam

Troy Historic Village hosted its 11th Troy Traffic Jam car show on Aug. 5 at Columbia Center in Troy. Nearly 300 classic cars, hot rods, muscle cars, and specialty vehicles were on display, and guests enjoyed music, food, and children’s crafts. This year also marked the launch of Connect with Careers, a youth mentoring program.

15th Annual Paul W. Smith Golf Classic

The 15th annual Paul W. Smith Golf Classic took place Aug. 6 at the Detroit Golf Club. Attendees enjoyed golf and dining, and proceeds went to Detroit PAL, The Children’s Center, and Variety – the Children’s Charity of Detroit. The classic has raised nearly $6.5 million since 2004.
